Day 14

I think its safe to say we are all exhausted today. Last night they gave Mac a different med for nausea and it made him crazy! One second he was smiling and the next batting his hands in the air being super agitated. He was babbling and fussing past midnight before he finally fell asleep. Then at 4am the nurse came in and Mac woke up crying. He cried and wanted me to hold him and threw up all over 🙁 that was the first time he’s thrown up just because and not because he had nasty medicine. I stayed up with him and held him but you could tell he was just hurting. He didn’t fall back asleep until 6:30 and he fell asleep in my arms. When he woke back up a few hours later he was screaming again and I realized a bunch of his hair had rubbed off on my hoodie. Well between him crying and his hair falling out, I started crying too. Oh well. Some days are harder than others. It did get the doctors attention which wasn’t my intention but worked out because we had a talk about how we don’t think its ok to just watch Mac suffer. They cancelled all of his oral meds for the day and put him on some IV morphine and some Zantac for possible reflux. Its so hard when you know he’s hurting but you don’t know why. I just CANT STAND to see him cry in pain. They think he might be having some mucositis- sores inside his mouth or digestive tract 🙁 He also has some fluid in his ears which could be causing some pain too. One good thing is that they stopped measuring his arm and aren’t even worried about it anymore!
He is dressed in his orange and blue ready for the Bronco game 🙂 We are hoping that he sleeps much better tonight and gets feeling better but this might just be part of the process. How crummy.
*today’s little miracle: no oral meds for lovey- too bad they will probably start back up tomorrow
