Day 7
I wish I could say that today was easy and uneventful but it just wasn’t that kind of day. When Mac woke up I noticed that his left arm was huge. Now, my baby has some pretty sweet squishy arms but today there was a whole extra role in his forearm. As the morning went on it got bigger, bluer, and colder. I kept calling in the nurse to tell her my concerns. The Doctors came in and said they were almost certain it was a blood clot and told me what the treatment was for that (which sounded horrible and I cried- intramuscular shots 2x/day and they would put a port in his leg) But, they wanted him to have an ultrasound to check. Mac screamed for the 40 minutes it took to do that ultrasound and it ended up being inconclusive. They did a blood test to see if Mac’s body was fighting a clot and the number was elevated but not high enough to go forward with treatment. For now we will watch and measure it often to make sure it doesn’t get worse.
Tomorrow Mac has more intrathecal chemo and I am hoping to watch if they will let me in! The nurse said that I probably could as long as I don’t think I will pass out! ๐
Can I just say that this boy is a fighter! I can’t believe all that he has to go through in a day and somehow he manages to smile and even laugh when we pretend to sneeze or make monkey noises. I am so inspired as I watch him fight through his cancer. Its crazy to me that he won’t have any memory of this. I mean that is a true blessing but I am sure going to tell him what a fighter he is. He can do anything and he can definitely do hard things.
today’s little miracle: he didn’t throw up today
