mystery poop (the real version this time!)
I got looking at this post and realized all my words were missing!?! After a few tears, I found it. So here is the real “mystery poop”
I figured out how to add more pictures! Now I won’t have to agonize over which one to choose π
Little muffin can crawl now!! We let him crawl across the couch since he can’t play on the floor! Its so cute. I can’t wait to go home so he has some space to practice and get moving! He loves to stand too. He can pull himself up in his crib and walk around the edges! π
I think I mentioned that there was some blood in Mac’s poop and they increased his platelets. Well since then, they suspected that Mac had an infection. They put him on isolation today (no going out of his room) and sent a sample of his poop to the lab to check. Isolation is the pits! If anyone on this floor has something infectious they are on isolation because it’s too risky that the other kids would get it. And because everyone up here has a very low immune system they don’t mess around. We go on a lot of wagon rides around the floor and that is not allowed if you are on isolation. Luckily the test came back negative. Unfortunately that doesn’t explain the blood. We will try different things tomorrow.
His ANC was 0 again today but his monocytes were up so hopefully his ANC will follow. We can hope. Today when we had the infection scare I had a moment of selfishness about him having to be on isolation. I snapped out of it and realized that we are here to get better. What ever that takes, we are up for it. This time is about Mac.
He is learning and growing so much. I was feeding him today and it was one of those moments you look at your baby and realize he’s not that same “baby” he used to be. I don’t get feelings of, “oh no he’s growing up too fast”. I just love watching him develop. Watching him learn new things makes me proud. We are trying to teach him to blow kisses and he will do it rarely, to one of his favorite nurses-Ashely! (one of the pictures I posted was of him and Ashley) He also really knows what he wants. When we go on wagon rides, we stop by the reception area and get a sticker. There are probably 8 different sticker choices. I am always attracted to the Disney princesses or the Dora stickers but I try to think boy and give him Tron (I don’t know what that is, but it looks boyish) or Ironman. Well today I gave him a Tron sticker and he wouldn’t take it. He just reached up towards all the stickers so I picked him up and he chose a Miss Piggy and Kermit sticker! π
I also posted a picture of him and Manuela. Despite his face in the picture, he LOVES her! She is one of the house-keeper/cleaners. Manuela and Anna (another house-keeper/cleaner) are just wonderful! They make him smile more than almost all the nurses. They are always so sweet to him. Mac has to have his room cleaned 2x/day so we get to see a lot of them!
As far as Jeremy and I, we’ve spent a lot of time on the phone- well really ON HOLD, the past few days. We are trying to work through our insurance and all of the changes with the Affordable (hahaha) Care Act. If we stick with what we have now, our monthly premium will double and our out-of-pocket max will increase as well. But trying to navigate the government website especially with our specific questions regarding Mac’s needs is very difficult!
*today’s little miracle- NO INFECTION!
