Home sweet home
We left the hospital for good last Monday! The doctors came in and sang to him (we cried) and it was just the best feeling to know that he is done living there. We went back yesterday for his last bone marrow aspirate and it was NEGATIVE! (no cancer) YAY! He didn’t feel so great all day yesterday after the propofol so we just cuddled and took it easy. I don’t know how we got so lucky but all of our favorite nurses and doctors were working yesterday and it was great to see them. He has been in the best care there. We are so grateful that such a wonderful place is so close to home! He is scheduled to get his broviac out next Friday! For the first year off of therapy, we will go back for monthly blood work. I’ve heard different things from different doctors but it will take 6 months- a year for Mac to fully recover. But every day he gets stronger. We still need to avoid sick people and be good about hand washing but we can go out.
Mac turned 1 on the 18th! It was a fun day! My mom, step-dad, and three half siblings came to visit and Mac loved seeing them! We played at the park and had the best time. Mac has been cruising around the house and sleeping a little better. He’s not walking yet but he holds on to the furniture and gets around. Jeremy and I have been busy bees trying to get life back together. Its been hectic. I think within the next week or two we will start to feel put together. My dad is having a minion birthday party for him tomorrow and next Saturday we are having a zoo birthday party! Should be lots of fun! ๐
