So much to catch up on!

So last I posted, Mac was going in for surgery to get his broviac out! Everything went as planned and it seems to be healed up! They don’t do any stitches so we didn’t have to return to get stitches or staples removed! If we ask him, “Where were your tubes?” he will point right to his scar! πŸ™‚

Next he had a birthday party at the zoo! We had tons of family and friends there and it was sooo much fun! Mac played in a chocolate cake, we got to see and pet animals up close, all the kids and some of us adults got tattoos, and Mac loved being around the other kids! We’ve been back to the zoo once already! We love that place!

Soon after the birthday party we got the flu! Mac got it first and it was scary. Poor baby would just sit there and throw up on himself. He also had diarrhea and just felt horrible. I called Children’s and they wanted to see him. Of course Mac had just had his broviac out so it wouldn’t be so easy to give fluids or IV meds. It was a “24-36 hour stomach virus”. Mac threw up for a week! A week! I don’t think he smiled once that whole time. Although we contemplated going in every day, he kept nursing even if he would throw up and we never felt like he was so dehydrated that we needed to take him back in. I got it bad too. I think it was the worst flu I’ve ever had. Good thing Jeremy got it AFTER I did so we could take turns taking care of each other and Mac.

We all got better just in time to celebrate Team Mac Attack at the finish line of the half-marathon! It was soooo awesome! Just being at the finish line of a race gets me all emotional but seeing a friend and her friends running in with “Team Mac” shirts was a whole new awesome! We so appreciate all that she’s done for us. Just having someone in your life that is willing to do something so kind is incredible.

Mac is loving being home! He is soo close to walking! He can stand and balance and take a couple steps before falling. Another huge thing is that he is finally interested in food! Just in the last week he’s been eating a ton of food! It must be growth spurt! His favorite is nilla wafers. I wonder if his taste for food is back to normal?! Whatever it is we are so happy and proud of him! He knows how to fold his arms and pray! Every time we get food out he folds his arms! He also likes to pray a lot during the day! πŸ™‚ He is getting better at communicating! And/or we are getting better at understanding him! He’s even been over to our friends house to play with her boys!

Last week me, Mac and my dad went to California! My dad has flying benefits with Frontier and so we picked up and left! First we went to the beach and the water was sooo cold! Mac liked the sand after he got used to it! The next day we went to Knotts Berry Farm! Camp Bus was a “moderate thrill” according to the map and I took Mac on it! He had to sit next to me and hold on to the bar and he did great! It even gave my stomach butterflies! We rode on a carriage with real horses and Mac liked that too! It was fun to get away and do something totally different! Hopefully there is more traveling in our future!

Sunday was our first day back at church! It felt great to be there! Mac sat on my lap the whole time! Happy Easter to us! Faith is really what got us through the last 5 months. I’m so grateful for the Savior and his sacrifice for us. It really is incredible to know that he understands how we feel in every situation.

Happy easter

I am hoping that the second round of t-shirts will be done soon! I also have flashes of hope pictures to put on here! I will try to do that tomorrow! They are awesome!

Oh yea! The best news of all… we went for his monthly appointment on Monday and he is still cancer free!!! His white blood cells are still low and out of normal range but she said that is to be expected with the very intense chemo he had. He had to get his first finger poke because no broviac and he didn’t even cry! He’s tough. πŸ™‚
